Since 1544
Founded in the 16th century by the Franciscan Order, Quinta de Santo Amaro is a living testament to history and authenticity. The first record of our family at the estate dates back to 1879, marking the beginning of a new era of care and dedication. Over seven generations, the spaces have been lovingly preserved and sensitively adapted, combining the original charm with contemporary functionality, all while retaining the essence that has transcended centuries.
Old Wine Cellar
The former space where the family produced wine and aguardente (for personal consumption) was transformed in the 1980s by João Flores into a welcoming environment full of history and personality. The original oven was replaced by a fireplace, while a century-old tapestry now adorns the old wooden wine barrels. The stone treading basins, once used for stomping grapes, have been preserved. Today, this old wine cellar is a unique space featuring a bar, a fireplace, and video projection—ideal for intimate events, accommodating up to 70 people seated or 150 standing.
